We are proud that one of the world's leading newspapers, The Guardian, selected us in 2021 as one of its 10 of the best eco-friendly places to stay in Europe. We are also proud to have received the EU Environmental Award for our approach to construction and hotel operations. In addition, Active House Alliance, an international certification scheme for buildings, named Hotel GSH Overall Best of 10 Years.

For us, responsible hotel operations are about more than words or fashionable concepts. We work continuously with practical solutions relating to the environment and our surroundings, while making sure that you can also enjoy comfortable accommodation and well-designed spaces for meetings and conferences.

GSH 2.0

In December 2022, Hotel GSH received the Building of the Year award in the Commercial category for our new accommodation wing, which opened in October 2021. We are very proud of this recognition and of the opportunity to explore new ways of reducing the carbon footprint of future construction.

The hotel's location

At Hotel GSH, you are right next to the forest, with a beautiful sandy beach just a short walk away through the trees. The beach is one of Bornholm's hidden gems, tucked away from the main roads and primarily used by hotel guests and local residents.

The forest path also leads towards Rønne town centre, where you will find a lively market square surrounded by cafés, sights and museums. Read more about Rønne here.

The ferry terminal is approximately 2 kilometres away, while Bornholm Airport is 5 kilometres from the hotel. Hotel GSH therefore gives you a peaceful setting while remaining close to everything you need.

Rooftop terrace with hot tub and sauna

As a guest at Hotel GSH, you have access to our rooftop terrace. Take in the views from the terrace, relax in the lounge furniture or unwind in the hot tub and sauna. If you need to cool off, you can use the outdoor shower or tipping bucket. There are private changing and shower facilities on the rooftop terrace, so you can freshen up before or after using the facilities.

Hotel guests can use the hot tub and sauna free of charge – simply book a time at reception. Bathrobes and slippers are provided in your room. Please note: Remember to read our spa rules before using the facilities. You will find them in the tab at the bottom of this page.

Fitness room

Hotel GSH has a fitness room equipped with, among other things, treadmills, a rowing machine, cross trainer, kettlebells and a multi-gym. Hotel guests can use the fitness room free of charge. The fitness room is open from 08:00 to 20:00 throughout the hotel's opening period.

Did you know that natural daylight can have a positive impact on meetings and conferences? Our meeting rooms feature Velux roof windows designed to provide plenty of natural light. The meeting rooms are bright and well designed, with modern equipment to support your meeting or conference. If you have any questions, our team is ready to help, and we can arrange catering to suit your needs. We are also happy to help you organise experiences and activities on Bornholm. Are you staying with us on holiday?

Did you know that good indoor air quality can contribute to a good night's sleep? At Hotel GSH, the special carpets help filter the air, while Auping beds provide a comfortable night's sleep. All rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the forest or the hotel's large natural grounds. The rooms feature a variety of designs. Some have light-coloured furniture from Skagerak made from FSC-certified wood, while our newer rooms, built in 2022, are constructed in wood. Read more about our rooms here.

Our approach to practical solutions for the environment, nature, people and animals

Guests from around the world visit Hotel GSH to see our construction methods, certified interior solutions and technical installations. You are also very welcome to learn more about the practical solutions we have implemented throughout the hotel. For example, Hotel GSH has been built and renovated with Cradle to Cradle principles in mind. This means that the new buildings have been designed so that the materials can be reused in the future. Solar panels generate electricity for the hotel. Recycled glass from Bornholm glass designer Pernille Bülow has been used to create paths through the grounds. The large natural area around the hotel has been designed with biodiversity in mind, which is why you will often see roe deer, hares and rabbits. Food waste from the kitchen is converted into biogas, while water from showers is treated and reused for toilet flushing. Petrol-powered lawnmowers have been replaced by a rather more charming solution: sheep. Hotel GSH is also certified with Green Key. Read more about our approach and solutions here.

Restaurant

If you are staying with us for a meeting or conference, you can enjoy meals in the restaurant for lunch, afternoon refreshments and dinner. The restaurant is not open to individual guests. If you are staying at the hotel on holiday, we recommend the restaurants at our two sister hotels, Griffen Spahotel and Fredensborg Badehotel, both just 700 metres from Hotel GSH.

Breakfast with organic and local produce

Breakfast is included in your room rate. Our generous breakfast buffet focuses on organic and locally produced food. Be sure to try our honey, produced by the hotel's own bees. The large park-like grounds around Hotel GSH have been designed with biodiversity in mind – something our bees clearly appreciate.
