Historical wood- paths to Rønne town
Right next to the hotel you will find a path, which leads you down to a lovely sandy beach. If you continue along this wood-path, you will be led into the center of Rønne – the “capital” of the island.

When the path stops, you will be greeted by Kastellet, which in the 17th century was part of the defense of Rønne. Kastellet is the exciting defense museum, where you can experience Bornholm during World War II. While the rest of Denmark celebrated the liberation in May 1945, Bornholm's German commander refused to surrender the island to Russia, as he only had the authority to surrender Bornholm to English troops. But the English had "forgotten" Bornholm, so instead Rønne was massively bombed by Russian planes - and subsequently occupied by Russian troops until 1946. Exciting spy and defection stories await you here.

Church and theater
After the dramatic but exciting experiences, you continue down towards Rønne Harbor. In the summer, it is teeming with life - especially on the days when giant cruise ships dock. From the port you turn up towards the center. Soon, Sct. Nicolai Church throne up in front of you. You go a little further and pass Bornholms Teater, which is Denmark's oldest theater still in use. Can a theatrical performance tempt you tonight?

Cozy city life
From Bornholms Theater you can continue to” Store Torv.” Here you can enjoy the cozy market life with a cup of coffee or a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants or cafes. The city also offers great opportunities for shopping. Explore the pedestrian street shops or take a stroll up to “Lille Torv” or “Snellemark”, where even more shops await you.

The old part of town
Right by “Store Torv” is the old town with its crooked streets and charming little houses. Here are also large merchant farms from the 19th century, which testify to a time when Rønne was home to many wealthy shipowners. Enjoy the beautiful houses on a relaxing walk along the cozy streets.

Visit Rønne's museums
In Rønne you will also find a number of museums. At Bornholms Museum you can experience Bornholm's history through 10,000 years. Due to its location, far from the rest of Denmark, Bornholm has had its very own development. Bornholm was centrally located on the sea routes to the Baltic countries and thus Bornholm was an important trading center in the "old days". Another exciting museum is “Erichsens Gaard”, where time is traced back to the 1850s. Here you experience a "nice" civic home, as it was then. In the beautiful garden, the old flower species from the 19th century are still in bloom. Also try to visit Hjorths Fabrik, which is “a living museum”, where you can experience Bornholm's proud ceramic tradition.
